Women Together

The Women Together newsletters were created by the North Country Women who together began meeting in 1974 to raise consciousness of women’s rights, activism, community, and to discuss feminism. These conversations organically led to the creation of the Women Together newsletters in the spring of 1976 to share these discussions with a wider audience. Women Together included articles on local women’s experiences with North Country living, raising children, age, work, and political action as well as national issues such as the ERA. They were created to spread ideas and thoughts and inform through articles, artwork, poetry, photographs, drawing and literature. The newsletters were published from 1976 and to 1981, with readers across the North Country and some nationwide. All together the newsletters held a very personal dimension that reflected the era’s slogan: the personal is political.
